The purpose of Yoga is to bring back balance between body and mind, then to maintain it. When the body and mind are balanced, there is no stress, and we become free of dis-ease. It starts with the body, because it is easy to do something with the body. The mind is more subtle. You can’t even take hold of it. So first work with the body. The physical postures of Yoga make the body more relaxed, and free it from accumulated toxins. By doing that, you are indirectly helping the mind become more balanced, and will be better able to handle whatever life brings to you.
